Got together with a few friends today for some juicy lucys at lunch. A mix of professions (sales, finance, real estate and a couple of lawyers) and all buy one are pretty serious golfers.
Naturally, we would discussed the anchoring regulations with a mix of opinions, mostly about the implementation rather than the rule.
After explaining the concept of anchoring to the the non-golfing lawyer, he said:
"What if a golfer is morbidly obese and has no option but to have the club in his belly? It seems to me that this new rule is a violation of the ADA-- (Americans with Disabilities Act?)"
We laughed for five minutes before we could even explain to him the Casey Martin precedent which already exists.
