I volunteered at our local First Tee for about 8 months last year.  After that experience, I'm now (for retirement volunteering) training to be a docent at our local art museum.

This was a lot of my motivation for getting into Golf Course Architecture. This game has given me more than I thought it possibly could, and I want to give back to it. I feel like designing golf courses may be the best way for me to do so, especially when they are for groups that try to bring juniors to golf.

My family owns a small course with full membership under £500 a year, i plan to continue offering a friendly club with a challenging course to those who can't afford to play elsewhere.

Where is that, Tom?   Love to see it.  Golf in America is such a mess, my annual club bill for a decent course in a third tier city is over ten times £500 a year!

Bill,

We're a humble 9 hole course in Buckinghamshire, England. The course was built by my great grandfather in 1966 and even with advances in technology, it still provides a stern test (course record is only -3).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the place.

Nice job Tom!

Q Were Heath and Wilson our last Golfing PM's?

Hole 5 looks like a downhill Redan.  http://ivinghoegolfclub.co.uk/the-course/

I don't know if its the photo's, but a large no of greens appear to slope to the rear?   Maybe when I'm on my travesl one summers eve....
Let's make GCA grate again!
