  ;D( ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)  ;D

Hot off the presses, they have reworked the right side of the 15th hole off the tee. More bunkering , tightening up the hitting area off tee, details no doubt will follow!   Sounds like the work done on #'s 4 and 9.  Bunkers replacing turf.

I've opined before that the work looks great on both 4 and 9 , but  limits the angles of attack .

Oops .....should have checked my source,    Mr Walker just informed me that the changes aren't on the tee shot but on the approach, seems they took out the two big cedar trees right of the green and bunkered it up.  My bad and thanks Jason

Mark,   The work on four and nine is almost ten years old.  . The bunkers are at the end of the tee shot hitting zone and took away some room on the right on both holes.  The changes I am speaking of are on hole fifteen and it is new!

Thanks for the clarification Archie.  15 does seem like a wide corridor especially down the right hand side.  Does a ball down the right side now kick into a reclaimed waste area?

Haven't seen it yet so can't give too much info.   Just got reports about new bunkering in bailout to the right !

A block down the right side already adds 30 yards to the hole.  LOL.

My bad , seems the bunkering that's new on 15" is near the green , not on the tee shot. !,,,

I was at PVGC last week. The work on the 15th hole is on the right side of the green, where there will be a grass slope down to a nest of bunkers. It looked like they were nearing the end of the earthworks, and finishing in preparation for planting. It was my first time there, so I don't know how it was before.

I was told they also leveled out the left side of the green. The entire green had just been re-sodded, painstakingly so, with each indivudual piece of turf labelled as it was removed so it could be replaced in exactly the same position relative to the others.

Tom Fazio is a member at PVGC, and in-house architect, according to my information.

I was warned not to publish photos under pain of litigation.

Pain of litigation?  Is that possible, what could they sue for?

Sound like any shot that leaks right will now end up in sand.  Why level off the opposite side of the green?

According to his fiends Carr and Smith,  Geo Crump  was unclear as to what he intended to do with this hole before he died (it wasn't quite finished).  So they aren't following his plans (or lack of) at least.

I'm not trained in law, and since I was visiting only by the club's forbearance, it didn't occur to me to enter into a legal debate regarding the substance of a possible lawsuit. To put it another way, they were nice enough to let me out there with my camera as long as I promised to keep the photos private. They told me they do the same with all casual visitors.

Yes, anything right of the green will be in deep trouble, sand or worse, and facing up a steep hill with no view of the green or the flag.

I was told that the left side of the green was leveled off to allow more pin positions. This seems to be the trend in green countour alterations these days. Everyone but everyone is suffering from faster greens.

I don't have any insight into the reasoning behind the alterations right of the green. People I was with couldn't or wouldn't explain it, and since I don't know how it was before I can't even guess, except to say it looks like the new construction will fit with the overall penal design of the course.

Those trees are gone.  Both cedar trees that were about 30-40 yards out and the other large pine that sat back about 2/3 of the way off the right side of the green.

There are no trees right of 15 green at present until you get down to where there is a rain shelter, must be at least 30 yds. away from the green.
