Sheep Pasture Golf Course at Lillooet, Canada
« on: November 12, 2012, 07:05:02 PM »
Friends of mine (non golfers) had visited this place on a trip visiting relations in Canada. Looks like a back to basics sort of place and kind of neat. Has anyone here been there or played it?

Any feed back welcome.

Jon,

Thanks for starting this thread. I have lived in the Vancouver area all my life and have never heard of this course. Lillooet is northeast of Vancouver on the way to Kamloops. Probably an hour's drive from Kamloops and maybe a bit more from Sagebrush. It is a very dry and hot town during the summers.

I will look into it next year as I suspect it is closed for the year right now.

Golf continues all year in the Vancouver area but in the interior, courses ususally shut down towards the end of October.

Thanks for the reply Bob. From the website, it looks like an interesting set up.

You have to love this policy for a season pass:

"Post dated cheques will be accepted but full amount must be paid by June 1st."

Prices were higher than I would have expected.

I have never heard of this either.  I'm not up that way often but it looks like it would be worth a look.

Quilchena to Lillooet is a drive of 2 1/2 hours, but it looks interesting

Jon,

I have played something similar in the Marlborough Sounds in NZ. The picturesque Nopera Bay Golf Club is only 4km away from Raetihi Lodge where I stayed. It is a 13 hole course which is sheep grazed with fenced greens. There are loads of sheep on the course!!

It was great fun with holes of various lengths and shape. The views are absolutely stunning yet the location is so isolated that a Water Taxi is required!

Cheers
Ben
