The leaves might not be as good this year after the hot summer, but some of our Midwestern/Northeastern posters have got to be able to outdo those colors.

The back tee at the Par 5 8th hole at The River Course at Black Wolf Run a couple weekends ago.

Not quite as impressive leaves on the Par 4 9th (one of my favorite holes) but the added bonus to this spectacular fall day was the huge salmon running up the river that flows throughout the course.  It was unbelievable how many of them were battling upstream!   One of the coolest days I have had on a golf course in a long time!!!

Bart,

This could get some serious consideration on the best looking 18th green thread...

Andrew,

That is absolutely the best photo I've ever seen of #17 at Crystal Downs. Do you have pics of other holes at CD?

Dan,

Those are gorgeous. I know a lot of folks around here hate trees but when the leaves are still on the branches this time of year it's amazing.

Is that a college team?

Chris --

Thanks.

There are WAY too many trees on that golf course -- but even if you took out hundreds (thousands?) of them that diminish the fun quotient of the course, it would still be beautiful in the fall.

Several college teams, actually. Those were all taken during the conference championship of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. That's my daughter Rose in the green and then the black (aiming on No. 1, playing No. 5, walking on No. 10), playing for Illinois Wesleyan.

Dan

P.S. A bit of trivia: My scant "research" suggests that Meadowbrook CC was one of two (2) courses attributed to the architect. The other? You would not be wrong if you guessed the infamous Jans National in Evanston, Illinois -- Shivas's favorite haunt.
