The real question here is cost.

There are things that men will pay $250 an hour for....I don't think golf is one of them.

Love the concept, but should the speed golfer get a reduced green fee or pay the rack rate? He is using the same length of course but just choosing to play it faster and arguably in a way that is more damaging and thus more expensive for the course. You could get more golfer out on the course but people would want to go out a single. What happens when you have a guy that plays in 45mins try and play through the guy who plays in 57mins?

Cool video, I tried it myself but had to keep letting those 4 balls play through so figured it wasn't really for me.

I guess the only time you could really practice is late at night or early in the morning. I noticed he was wearing those new Tiger Woods quasi golf running shoes. 36 holes two days in a row at Bandon this week made my feet ache for some reason plus filled my feet with blisters and by the last 9 holes my right knee was killing me. It's not the place to walk in my your golf shoes I guess is the lesson here. Running on the course seems tough so shoes and fitness are key. What amazed me is that the guy didn't work up a sweat, didn't seem to breath heavily ran about 10k in less than an hour with many stops and hardly missed a put and oh yeah didn't miss the fairway.

In the words of Shania Twain,"that don't impress me much" (even though I am kind of impressed). I'd like to see him shoot the same score having to wait on the three 4 balls in front of him during the course of a 5.5 to 6 hour round without getting agitated and still be able to keep his flow. Now that would impress....and if he broke a sweat doing so, even more impressed.

Oh and as Emile noticed he didn't replace a single divot.

I think they should consider making running cart paths only.

Arrrrgh! A travesty, a parody, the antithesis of golf!

I have played golf with Chris several times, not the speed golf though.  He works out of Pumpkin Ridge.  He believes that the average golfer would improve his game if he played quicker-less time to think about things.  He once shot a 65 in 44 minutes.  Takes me that long to put on my shoes and sunscreen.  Cool video.

And, he gets to play at least 4 times as much golf as John Kirk for the same price! Assumption, John plays 18 in more than 4*44 minutes.

Phenomenal!  The fast player in me thinks this is fantastic.  The real lesson here, though, is not the speed, it's the score.  He breaks 70 without ever taking practice swings, consulting a laser gun, mulling over club selection or lining up putts.  Imagine how much time you would cut out and how much better your score would be if you didn't do those things.

I have never noticed practice swings having any demonstrable impact on my score, or the effectiveness of my shot.

I'll take the club out of the bag, give it a warmup swoosh through the air, and then have at it.

Exceptions would be if I've got an unusual shot - low whippy hook under a tree, or an awkward pitch shot.

Mostly I just consider practice swings to be wasted energy.

This guy proves that I'm correct.

No, this guy just proves that a great player doesn't need practice swings, distance aids, a full set of clubs and four hours to play 18 holes. He doesn't prove anything about the average player.

David,

I believe he is sponsored by Nike.

The ultimate shoe for this is the new TRUE Sensei - today it makes history.  Ryan Moore and Rob Rigg will both be wearing them today - one in a Tour event, and the other running the Portland marathon.

Very cool video.

Wondering about the photography, how it was done? If you watch carefully when he runs between shots, you'll notice that his feet are in exactly the same spot on the frame every time. It almost seems like we're watching two separate videos, composed into one ... one of him hitting shots and running, and the other of a cameraman running (or on a Segway perhaps?) across the land, filming the course.

Straight hitter, wow. Never seemed to get into (much) trouble.
