Mine is easy, anything long (requiring driver) with OB/Forest/Ball losing rough/water on the right with a hard left to right wind.

What's your's? Should I see this as genius architecture as it's the ultimate test for me?

Any hole that requires a long (200 yards +) over water or waste areas off the back or middle tees.

David,

Go play Persimmon. You will find my nightmares at 9 and 18.

Island greens.

I don't hit a lot of greens and, when playing well, my short game saves me a lot.  HOWEVER, with water by the greens up and downs are not possible.   :'(

Anything requiring a left-to-right shape. I'm a left-handed slicer.

Long forced carry tee shots have always been a problem for me. The par 3's at Medinah were all night mares to me. I have alway hated long par 3's over water.

How to nicely tell clubs that island green holes (their signature hole), or holes that require carries most golfers cannot manage are unplayable and not really enjoyable for most golfers; especially women and seniors. In some areas an equivalent challenge are tree planting schemes that suffocate the course (or will given enough time) and how to "manage" them.

Hitting up a steep immediate slope off the tee has always played with my mind.

I should start by saying that I hit a draw. If I hit driver on that hole, no matter how far right I aim I invariably hit it through the fairway into the pines. I am rather uncomfortable hitting 3-wood off the tee and even if I do it is not a guarantee that I am able to hit over the crap on the right. I also am prone to a wild hook when I hit that club off the tee as my miss. Then there's the 2-iron. If I were to hit iron off the tee it would put the right crap into play and make the fairway narrower. I am also likely to miss with a wild hook when I hit 2-iron. Among other things there is a road and numerous diabolical bunkers and trees to the left of the entire fairway.

Knowing your ball flight, that is just shocking! Where can you find a good reverse redan??

Tee shot with significant elevation to a diagonal landing area.  I can't seem to judge the distance well and with the elevation I have a tough time tracking the ball so often loose a ball.

Brian if you hook off PV #6 and go through the trees towards the seventh fairway you can end up with a very tricky shot off a path!!

Actually the first time I played it I hit it so far through the fairway that I had an open shot at the green from the rough. Just had to hit it over a few trees.

Hitting off a sloped fairway, falling right to left, to a green cut into the same hill.

Knowing that - if/when I slice - I’ve got to walk down the hill to play my ball and drag my clubs up again :P

I have similar problems with #18 at Hershey CC-West. It is similar in that it bends right, but the turning point is well before the landing zone and anything that misses right is dead. No matter what I try I can not seem to start the ball far enough right to keep from driving through the fairway. The hole is long enough and has a tough enough green complex that laying up to the bend leaves a more difficult shot than I would like.

Middle-iron par-threes requiring a left to right shot. I am a natural drawer of the golf ball, particularly with middle irons.

A left to right tee-shot isn't as bad.... I tend to be able to work my driver a little better than most clubs.

I prefer a slight fade and have always had difficulty "seeing" a long par three with water on the left and bunkers on the right.  Used to play a hole in Sarnia Ontario that got me all the time.  Now I only get the same feeling entering a MRI machine.

I have two real killers. A forced carry off the tee straight into a strong headwind and reverse redan type greens. I cannot hit a fade with an iron to save my life.
