In the GAP Open this year we had at least two players I saw hit it up against the clubhouse on their approach to #4.  The flowerbed around the clubhouse was played as through the green so unless the clubhouse interferred with you swing, stance or lie of the ball it was play hard.  Saw one player play it off the road and bounce it up on the green.

I'd love to see a video of how he got there! ;D Hell of a shot.

And how about Mike McCoy shooting 64-65 to open the tournament?! Wow.

Thats awesome.  Did it bounce off the paved area to get up there I guess?

Amazing to me how many people don't understand you don't take video with your phone straight up and down.

129 over 36 at PV playing in championship conditions that's strong play to say the least. McCoy then cops a dog licence in the matchplay!

Geoffrey,

If he had a good lie on the roof, that's not that hard of a shot for a very good player.

What I want to know is how he got up there in the first place.

And, with the litigious climate, why PV would permit climbing up on the clubhouse in soft spikes ?

Was his caddy also allowed up on the roof ?

The fact that we have a video from PVGC that wasn't GAP Open related offers enough reason to celebrate...

In my only appearance, I had the opportunity to play from the flower bed after an errant approach shot.  As this was not in tournament conditions, I elected to drop on the turf, no closer to the hole.  Embarrassing my host was not going to be compounded by playing sa poor shot out of the mulch.

Nicely played -- such recoveries I call "Woking 14s."

In 1904 Charles Alison played a shot off the clubhouse roof to 14 green in a tight match. Halved the hole.

In 1994 Lord Justice Simon Brown, playing in the Scrutton Cup foursomes tournament, climbed a ladder and used his putter to hit a shot from the roof to a few feet of the hole. His partner missed the putt.

At some point afterwards the roof was declared OB.

Carry on.

The shot was during the first round of stroke play qualifying. There were no "fans" on the course. Video was taken by a staff member.
