Pat there is 356,000km of ocean shoreline in the world and just under 20,000 of it is in the USA so the US restriction does stifle the debate on an international website.

I'm unfamiliar with most of 336,000km of ocean shoreline outside the U.S. so I didn't feel comfortable expanding my focus beyond the U.S. shoreline.

If Mark Pearce wants to start a tangential thread, he's certainly free to do so.
