100th.err.. 101st PGA...where should it be held? V2.0
« on: July 26, 2012, 04:57:49 PM »
Where should the 100th 101st playing of this major be held in 2018 2019? I'm going to say something on the West Coast Like Riv or Sahalee, have not been on the Left coast since 1998.  Maybe Pumpkin Ridge, Chambers Bay or even Torrey Pines.

August is just such a miserable time in much of the country with the hot humid weather, The pacific NW would be great. 80 degrees, sunny, no humidity.

Wherever they play it, they should do it at match play, in honor of the centenary.

Pete, it's Emile...you've made that mistake twice now  ;D

Now put the drink down, pull yourself away from the bar at McKee's and clarify what the heck you are talking about....cause I have no clue.

He's saying, as several of us have also hinted, that the 2018 PGA (which is the 100th) was awarded to Bellerive ... last year.

Maybe the PGA website could update their own website. It only lists through 2017.

...how do I " like " Tom Doak's comment ?....brilliant...a match play at the PGA would make it the major it's supposed to be, unlike the major it's been trying to be.

Why? That is just par for the course with the PGA. They constantly choose the least interesting/weakest courses compared to the other majors.

As AMERICA encompasses more than the USA how about Tom's idea of match play and play it over multiple courses here in Cabo. One semi at Diamante and one at CDS Ocean.

How's that for out of the box?

Sorry for the sarcasm... I was actually thinking how cool it would be to go back to the inaugural site - Siwanoy.  If that site didn't work out, then play it Winged Foot and have some special ceremony at Siwanoy.  Alas... I realised it had already been planned for 2018 so my little bit of romanticism was blown to bits.

So, I agree... something in the West would be good.  Riviera (or are they angling for a US Open?)... Pumpkin Ridge... Colorado GC?

So how come none of its sections are outside the US? Are you perhaps using the wrong interpretation of AMERICA?
