New Position and The Raffle
« on: September 08, 2015, 10:25:20 AM »
Hi All - I have been AWOL for some time.  I am back now and at Torrington Country Club.  I hope you all get to know Torrington better.  The excellent architecture of Orrin Smith under Ron Forse's care makes for a very classic challenge.

Also - The Alumni Turf Group is holding the annual golf raffle to be drawn in November for the 2016 season.  We have advanced to having PayPal to ease the purchase process.  Please consider supporting our effort to move turfgrass science and golf forward. http://www.alumniturfgroup.com/turf/index.php/component/content/article/42-atg-org/153-2015-golf-raffle-list

Cheers,
Steve

Torrington CT?  If so, we played the CT state (public) golf championship there in 1988.

Hi Pete - One of the odd situations in moving our golf event earlier in the year is we needed to separate the raffle to allow time to procure prizes and sell tickets.  Our 2015 event was meant to be in April at TPC River highlands.  Sadly, it was rained out but we had a great evening celebrating our honoree.  I have a rain check for an individual round there if anyone wants it.
Our event for 2016 is set for May 16th at Pine Hills Golf Club.

Always a great way to give back to the game. Jim, you'll be happy to know I've won twice already perhaps being a U Mass alumnist has helped.

I suspect that the ticket buying demographic is heavily weighted w/UMass Alumni.  ;D Didn't stop me from taking another chance this year.  ;)

I'll be buying a couple of tickets.  I am not an alumnus, but I did win in the 2012 raffle.  I still have the certificate for four players at Brian Silva's Red Tail in Devens, MA, valid thru 9/2019.       Any takers?

In a region with many classic courses with some scary greens, there are few scarier than the ninth ant 18th greens at Torrington. I really enjoyed playing the course in a US Am qualifier a year ago, even though I didn't play very well.

Couldn't remember if I made good on my promise, so I just bought two using the  Paypal option button that was linked in the first post.  And,  I changed 9/19 to 9/2019 in my earlier post for a 4some at Red Tail.

Just bought my ticket, hope I'll now have a good reason to come back up to Mass again.   There are some familiar gems in that list.

I live in Chicago, but am in Connecticut frequently enough that I invested in a ticket. Impressive roster of giveaways
