Play the newly restored Knoll / West (rescheduled for Sat, Sept 15)

(I've been asked to post the following)

A golf outing is being planned for 8/18 at Knoll / West GC in Parsippany, NJ. The event is being arranged for a minimum of 24 to a maximum of 48 players.

If interested in playing sign-up now !
 
Tee times are set aside for that afternoon and there will be a kick-off meeting with some featured speakers, a buffet luncheon and golf in the PM. Prizes and post-event wrap-up will occur after the golf concludes.

The Knoll / West is a famed Charles Banks design which has been restored through the involvement of long time course expert George Bahto.

If you are interested in participating please submit your name to this post as soon as possible.

Please note when final costs are posted -- you will need to forward your complete dollar amount to ensure participation. Further details will be posted shortly.

First come -- first served.

Thanks for the post.

The Knoll is a terrific golf course and a very challenging par 70.

Great Redan, Biarritz, Short and Eden along with Double Plateau, Valley and other terrific templates.

I'll check my schedule but I'm pretty sure that my son and I will make it.

I may be out of town, but if not I will definitely attend.  I just played Knoll West for the first time a month ago and am now wondering why I am not there every weekend as its 20 minutes from my apartment!

Bump to keep this on the first page.  

The Knoll (West) is a great example of Banks' work on his own.  I was here last in 2006 with another great GCA friend, and it was good then.  My understanding is George has made it a lot tougher.

From MW:

Saturday's event for the 18th at The Knoll / West is being postponed to likely the first Saturday after Labor Day. Too many people that want to play but because of various schedule conflicts -- most notably family vacations --
can't be on hand.

The Knoll is a terrific golf course, a Charlie Banks design replete with CBM/SR templates.

It's quite a challenge and shouldn't be missed by those who haven't played there.

I'm sorry I couldn't make the original date because of family commitments, and I can't play in September because of my job.  But SOMEDAY I'd love to, as I'm a Charlie B. in his 26th year of teaching at Hotchkiss, the Connecticut prep school where Banks met Raynor during the construction of the school's course in 1926.  I was tempted to follow CB's footsteps after my 17th year of employment here, as Banks did, abruptly, but a wife and two small daughters obliged me to opt for the road more travelled..

Sorry I can't make the new date, but, I'd encourage everyone to come and play The Knoll.

I'm trying to get the town of Parsippany to do a updated reprint with corrections - lots of mistakes in the original book (I was a total rookie at the time    :-[
