Don't forget that the USGA Junior Girls' Championship is being played at Lake Merced CC all this week, with a 36-hole final on Saturday. Admission is free and the course is a pleasant walk.

I imagine they froze out there today.  Scores were high.

They don't have an Open event for girls?  How unfair!

Girl from my club is playing in it, but didn't do well the first day.  Have played with her a few times...interesting swing...twists her body in 'reverse' on backswing (butt sticks forward, not that I was looking  ::))....and has a Nancy Lopez-like pace of backswing.

My daughter will be playing on HS team she just graduated from.

I did get out to Lake Merced CC to watch the front nine of the afternoon round of the 36-hole Junior Girls final between Minjee Lee of Australia and Alison Lee of Valencia, CA. It was hard not to be impressed with just how very, very good these girls are. The distance they are able to hit the ball despite their diminutive stature is remarkable. They played a course of almost 6,300 yards.

In the 9 holes I saw, Alison Lee had 3 birdies and 6 pars and Minjee Lee had 1 birdie, 7 pars and a bogey. I was a little surprised to read that Minjee rallied from 3-down on the back nine to match, as Alison was 2-up on the 10th tee.

If you ever get a chance to watch top-flight junior girls golf, do so!

So what?  She's in the right age bracket and they don't seem to have a Junior Girls Open.  What's the point in excluding pros from this tourney?
