I've read many mentions over the years of environmental regulations making design difficult on properties with a lot of wetlands, but I'm not sure if I've ever really understood the restrictions. I realize that most natural wetlands must be a certain distance from greens and possibly from fertilizers altogether, but I don't really know any more than that.
I'm looking for specifics here:
- What are typical wetland restrictions? Do they vary by state or are they fairly consistent?
- What types of wetlands are impacted? Natural? Flowing? Anything that holds water?
- Specifically, how far from greens/fertilized areas must the wetland remain?
- What are some tactics for working around the restrictions to create quality holes?
