Barney, now I understand why you didn't accompany us on Doak's tour of the new course.  You would undoubtedly have been embarrassed by the Moses-like glow of your face.  "Genius routing."  A "course like no other."  "Transcendent."

Then again, even I must confess the gravitational pull of Tom's aura.  In all honesty, I'm excited for Chris and those of you who have joined the club.  Thanks again for sharing it.

I think Mac and you are digging a little too deep on your hole analysis.

 ???

Huh?  How am I digging too deep?

I said in one of the first few post I looked forward to playing 9 the most and I thought 1 was the most bland.

Other than that I said a golf course is more than just a collection of holes.

Too deep?

First of all, I'm not so much digging as I'm shoveling.  It is interesting that I chose not to attend the Doak tour.  I have been lucky enough to tour the course before with Tom and as recently as the first of June did an extensive review.

I do believe it is dangerous to over analyze something that you love.  While I often thank God for allowing my wife into my life I would never ask for an explanation why.

btw:  Doak was Moses leading his followers while I was out on the Nicklaus doing a Dathan on my buddies.

JK and Mac:

What I meant by the comment was that I think most people when the course is done and playable will be talking about the finish.  It is just too pretty not to talk about.  As much as we like to talk about hole merits, the average golfer likes pretty more than all (so long as the hole is properly designed - which all 18 here are).

Sorry for the poor choice of words.

I am a gca geek and even with all of the golf that I played at the 5th Major, my favorite site was the clubhouse and the cottages all lit up at midnight as I drove into the site.  Just awesome.
