The UK test seems bogus.  Why would they ask prospective citizens about the number of people who say they are Muslims in the UK?

20/20 on the US test. Not too tough if you understand the difference between the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

Once I was with some friends at a bar for Pub Trivia night. One of the categories was "Do you know enough to be a US Citizen?" with the questions being in this vein. I seem to remember they were harder though, and were not multiple choice. It was damn tough.

I got 17 out of 20 and I am not, nor ever plan to be, an American.

Frankly, my life will remain complete not knowing which of those 4 states were original members of the union, or how many amendments there are.

19/20

Had to guess between 23 and 27 amendments.

ditto

Me three, and in defense, I'd argue two of those amendments (18 and 21) were completely unnecessary and/or unjustified (speaking as a resident of the wettest state in the country), and thus my guess of 23 was just as close to the number of amendments we should've had (25) than the correct number (27).

Ed,

A retired history teacher breezed through it today and reminded me of this easy way to remember the 13 orig. colonies: they all touched the ocean.

p.s. he also reminded me that partying should begin on the 2nd, as that was the day it was signed.  ;D

Phil,
21 was definitely necessary.  ;)

18, I get to stay. I wonder if the folks who get 11 or 12 will post their scores? :)

I got 11.

Up until a couple of years ago the Australian Citizenship Test contained 3-4 questions on sports trivia.  If you didn't know who Don Bradman was, you couldn't get into the country.

16/20 on the American one, 13/24 on the British one (will they confiscate my passport?).

At least the American one focuses on America's history and system of government - things you'd like all new Americans to understand and appreciate. The British focuses on bureaucracy and the welfare system. Very strange stuff.

Let's just say I made a "Hillbilly A."
Mike,
Here are 5 bonus questions I created for you as the test is obviously skewed in favor of the Union. Add any correct answer to your original total (should bring your number of correct answers up into the 'teens).  ;D

Who  assumed command of the Army of Northern Virginia on June 1st, 1862
a.   Peggy Lee
b.   F.Lee Bailey
c.   R. E. Lee
d.   Lee Majors

All of South Carolina is east of North Carolina
a.   True
b.   False

What are the first words of the  Confederate Constitution?
a.   Y’all
b.   All y’alll
c.   We, the people of the Confederate States
d.   How do

How many amendments does the Confederate Constitution have?
a.   10
b.   More than ten (must leave your shoes on when counting)
c.   None, we didn’t have time
d.   What’s an amendment

Who was president during World War I?
a.   Jefferson F. Davis
b.   Jefferson F. Davis
c.   Jefferson F. Davis
d.    Jefferson F. Davis

Jim-I will give Bogey a little help on the first two to get him started as I would certainly like to add a couple points to my score as well. I`m pretty sure you omitted the correct answer as an option on number 1 as it`s Lee Meriwether. As far as number 2 everybody knows that depends on whether or not it is high tide. ;) Oh and I`ll take red.

p.s. Thought I was perfect, but missed 1 answer   ;) ;D

Me, too - did you choose New Hampshire over Vermont as well? Vermont was my first guess, changed it.

EDIT: Read the thread, saw your miss. Shoulda figured a New Englander would know the question I missed.

I actually thought there were 26 amendments, gotta go look up what I'm missing...

EDIT 2: effin' women's suffrage... :)

Man, those Brits have what seems a much tougher test. 8 out of 24? I haven't done that bad on a test since I got a seven (out of a hundred  ???) on an integral calculus test in college -- tho in my defense, we did shots of beer per minute the previous evening at the fraternity bar. I stopped at 100 because I had a test the next day. One guy made it to 195, but couldn't get the last five down in time (projectile vomiting tends to do that). Got a 19 on our test (thought the President Pro Tem took over rather than the Speaker).
