Golf's Grand Design," a new 60 minute HD documentary debuting on August 3rd at 10pm on PBS, examines the history and role of American golf course architecture and explores the unique relationship between the people who play the game and the places where they play.

Golf's playing fields have recognizable characteristics.......but golf is the only sport played on a field with no specific dimensions. Behind these unique courses are the colorful and creative individuals who helped fashion them. The rise of golf in America over the past 130 years is due in large to the artistry of the people who design the courses....(CB, Bendelow, Tilly, A. Mac, Ross, RTJ, Dye, Jack, Fazio, Doak, Ben and Bill, and golf architecture experts Uncle George and Whitten.
The program also explores various eras and trends that impacted course design and the game.
