I went on their website and got the information.  No one seems to know what happened with Mr. Johnson in his last years.  This is what Ilm trying to uncover.  Don Fox

re: Walter Johnson:

His solo efforts are very few, but include 9 holes at Potowomut Country Club in East Greenwich and North Kingstown Golf Course in 1944, then its complete renovation in 1966 while the chief engineer at the Quonset Naval Air Station.

From Robert McNeil's (ASGCA member in RI) blog.

I don't know much about our Architect...

I believe he was more engineer than architect. Ross topo map man. He re-designed my club (Potowomut Golf Club) in 1962. He turned a 9 hole course designed by members in the late 1920's into a respectable 18. Very nice routing, average greens but horrendous bunkers on a poor site for golf because of rock and ledge rock. Our member-guest tournament in June is named after Mr. Johnson.

I believe he spent his final days in East Greenwich RI.

What is "ledge rock?"  Is it shale?
