The good/well thing drives me crazy, too. But I'm also certain I make mistakes that bother others, so I generally try to ignore it.

I have made the mistake of correcting girlfriends/the wife in the past. I won't make that one again - didn't work out too good. :)

Brad

Dark Days indeed, but it took some time for the Empire to get moving to support the old Homeland. Dark Day - did that not also relate to the Lend Lease agreement where all the old ships were released to us poor Brits. Seems some of my older family members served on old 'Tub'.  As for Britain fallen, sorry when did you get into the war - sometime in 1942, nearly three years after it started in Europe?

You did not win the war; we (together) won the war. Of course you helped, but from the Lease deal you did rather well out of it.

While WE won the war in the field we lost the war to the USSR in all the concessions a certain Gentleman made and that was not Churchill. The Cold War that lasted longer than WW2 was started because we held back; we allowed the USSR everything they wanted. Seems the same thing is still going on, we win the wars, our guys die then lose the peace and still our guys die.

Just in closing how many wars did the USA win alone in the American Century - was it one or two on islands south of the USA, please correct me if I am wrong.

There is no i in Team, well so I am told.

Brad and Melvyn
I know I'm going to hate myself for doing this, but I just can't resist.

Really you guys.  This is not about golf, even though Brad tried to sneak in a golf reference at the end.  And you guys really do need to look at your grammar.  But speaking of golf in the Soviet Union...

Anybody who thinks that either the United States or the United Kingdom would have beat the Axis without the Soviet Union has not spent anytime examining the history of WWII.  They took the brunt of best the German Wehrmacht could throw at them and suffered horrific losses, far more than the US and the UK combined and then some.  The post-war politics is quite another discussion, but please, let's have at least some intellectual honesty.

So, how many golf courses are there in Russia or the Ukraine for that matter.

I agree Jim, the war really was one or is that won with Soviet blood, American industry and capital and the last gasp of the British empire. The French died in WW1.  When all else fails in a debate, argue about grammar. That is a very old technique, British, I believe! Thanks for allowing me to enjoy this more.

Melvin, the spilling of blood, especially when it is your fathers or mine is never to be taken lightly and for this we all owe a great debt of gratitude to that generation.

I do understand there is a beginning of a golf industry in Russia, today. I'm not sure we should wish this adiction upon them. Following this logic, King John was correct to outlaw golf.

Brad

Should have outlawed golf in America and we might not have the cart. Come to think of it - the aerial game, super high tech companies running the governing bodies, GPS, courses built on land not fit for purpose, Hell wish I could go back in time and talked CBM out of playing golf.  Oh well there you go, even when you have a great game alone comes someone trying to change it to make it easy. One day we will remember and you will be up for war crimes against golf.  If found guilty a Groundhog Day of Island Greens, that should do the trick ;D

They're not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I just recently had the discussion with my son about how after the impending Nuclear Winter we will no longer be speaking of men who walked through the desert 2,000 plus years ago.  We will have new heros and religion will be fresh again.  It's something to look forward to.  The very fact that religion has grown so stale is why this reality of his generation is impending.

And just think, it is because we don't use adverbs properly.
