Anyone want play Hudson National?
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:47:59 PM »
To all -

Just wanted to see if anyone has any interest in playing the course sometime this summer/fall.  The website is below.

If so, I would be happy to put together a group, likely on a weekday afternoon.

I would ask that everyone cover their greens fees ($150) and their caddy ($85-100).  I recognize this isn't cheap but still wanted to extend the offer.

I will take care of food/beverage.

Please keep in mind that you have to walk with caddy unless you are over 60 or have a medical condition.

Just respond to this thread and if we can generate at least a foursome or two I'll take the next steps.

Regards,

Brian

Brian,

Thanks for your gracious offer. I would be interested if a late Summer, Fall outing were on the docket. I had a very sharp caddie at Old Memorial, in Tampa, who spoke highly of Hudson and said to play it if I got the chance. If it works out great, if not, there's always the future.

Cheers,

"I said in a talk at the Dunhill Tournament in St. Andrews a few years back that I thought any of the caddies I'd had that week would probably make a good golf course architect. We all want to ask golfers of all abilities to get more out of their games -caddies do that for a living." T.Doak

Brian,

This is a tremendously kind offer. I have colleagues who have played at Hudson and number of times and rave about it. I doubt i would be able to make it this year as holdiay time is limited and my wife and i are expecting our first child but i just wanted to say thank you for the kind offer.

Maybe next time.

I might be able to play if one is needed.  I have played it before so don't want to take someone else's spot.  You'll certainly enjoy the day if you play.

Thanks

Dan

Would like to if it works for you. Played there the first few years after it opened. Great walk.
Haven't played since yesterday, not playing until tomorrow, hardly playing at all!

Brian,

The website looks great - I will be in Boston/LI in September and if the timing is right, I would like to join you also.  What a great offer.

Brian,

Very kind...wish I lived closer!  Fascinating property and one of the most attractive Fazio courses I've seen!  Can you tell us what the ruined structures are on the property?

Cheers

Will,

From the website -

Fazio utilized the ruins of a lost clubhouse as a signature feature of the property, routing the fourth hole right alongside them as a “historical reminder” of a bygone era. The 9-hole Hessian Hills clubhouse fell victim to a “successful” fire in the 1930s, following the stock market crash and the onset of The Depression.

To all who responded with interest -

I am going to send out some potential dates for a weekday afternoon round in September/October.  Those are my favorite months to play the course.

So we can take this offline, I was hopeful everyone who has shown interest can e-mail me their e-mail address either by PM or directly to me at bpotash@yahoo.com

I should be back with some dates by the end of the week.

Happy fathers day and here's to a great final round of the Open!!
