I think you're right on.  If he brings the same mind set to Olympic that he had on display on Sunday at the Memorial he will be a force to be reckoned with.

I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

I'd like to think he'll win it, but I just can't see him playing 4 flawless rounds on that course.

Archie,

While I'd love to see Luke win this week, I'm not entirely sure the course is going to play to his strengths this week. From everything I've read (and heard from a couple friends out there this week) is that the fairways are narrow and rock hard. So with their slopes it's conceivable that even if someone is driving it well (not always Luke's strength to begin with), they're still going to end up in the rough a lot off the tee. Being in the rough would tend to neutralize Luke's strong iron game a bit and would make it harder for him to get GIR's to get easier pars.

I really really hope I'm wrong though! I'd be ecstatic if he won this week.

I guess you could argue that if Tiger's got that 290 yard stinger working and can keep it out of the tall stuff, the harder it plays the more it plays into his hands, at least on paper.  Looks like no rain in the forecast either so it could get pretty crusty out there, particularly if you're not playing from the fairway.

Tiger has played in 65 professional majors and won 14. So you think he is playing as good as he has vs the field  as he ever has?  With a a missed cut, and a couple of 40th places, I just don't think he has separated himself from the field like he used to. He is a top ten player in the world not the top player inthe world. 10% would be extremely high and closer to 3-5% I would but into, but 15-20%. Vegas will take those odds and make money betting against.

Remember this is the Olympic club............

Lot of big names there, Bogey -- not exactly Fleck, Simpson and Janzen. Olympic usually produces odd winners at the Open. What about someone like D.A. Points? Not long, but pretty accurate, and decent at hitting greens. If the set-up and conditions produces a winning score in line with past US Opens there (around par, maybe a stroke or two under), I'd go with a plodder.

Do you see anyone playing flawless for four rounds?

Tiger will finish 3rd 3 shots back.

Good point, Phil, but WHICH plodder.  Missed cut tags me with 65 points.  Gotta go chalk.

If he leaves the driver mostly out of the mix he wins. If he hits it a lot he finishes 5th.

It's like none of you guys have seen an Open at Olympic before...

I expect a performance like the Masters. I expect a relative unknown winner who goes on to... nothing. (I know, that's not fair to Casper.)

Next most likely outcome is Tiger finishes 2nd in a playoff to Casey Martin.

Because he's exhausted coming down the stretch of the 90th hole, while Martin is fresh as can be.

I'm guessing a Casey/Tiger/McIlroy playoff is a network execs wet dream...Casey wins after Tiger severely pulls a hamstring hacking out of the rough and has to pull out cause he can't walk the back nine....

Bogey

Bogey:

Five plodders to watch (I consider a plodder anyone who's major- or Players Championship-less) besides D.A.:

-- Justin Rose (5 top 10s this season, including a win. Solid driving/GIR stats.)
-- John Senden (4th in GIR, behind only Westwood, Watson and Rose).
-- Jonathan Byrd (5 top 10s this year)
-- Steve Stricker (T5th last time Open played here)
-- Jeff Maggert (T6th last time Open played here; playing decently lately, and has played a ton of majors.)

According to my daughter, Bubba is going to win.  She also has him winning the NBA finals.  She is four.
