Say goodbye to the local muni?
« on: June 06, 2012, 12:03:25 PM »
I know the muni here has struggled and there are some very vocal detractors that want to close it down or sell it off.

The city has fired all the old staff, hired a much smaller staff, changed the dues structures, raised prices on range balls, reduced services like food and beverage and have started converting bunkers from sand to grass. After years of deficit spending the course is on track to break even next year.

In honor of Z Boaz (formerly Worth Hills/Goat Hills) and Mr. Jenkins, below is linked maybe his finest work - "The Glory Game At Goat Hills".

Fort Worth apparently isn't interested in the path Dallas has taken is restoring their Muni's.  That being said, Z Boaz is no great loss.

Greg,

I don't believe Z Boaz was goat hills.  That course sat under what is now the TCU football stadium.  You can still see the shape of an old tee or green just north of the tennis comple, and just west of the parking lot in a  5 acre open field.

Played Z Boaz once.  Tough neighbor hood and signs everywhere to watch your stuff.  Some tough looking guys appeared to be heading right for my wife as she played, and I was prepared to jump into action.  They stopped while she played, gave a golf clap and continued on their short cut across the golf course.
