With the European Tour calling this week at the Nordea Masters at Bro Hof Slott, I thought I'd finally get around to posting some photos from the 2010 tournament.

All distances are from the white tees, as the back tees (black) are not being used, except at one or two holes. In some cases the shorter yellow tees are being used, for example at the par three 7th, where they list the hole at 192 mtrs, yet they are playing from the 142 mtr yellow tee. I'm puzzled as to why they keep listing the incorrect hole distances for the 3rd year in succession. The 18th hole is listed as 432 mtrs, but that tee does not exist. The plan was to have a tee back at the waters edge, but I believe environmental constraints put a stop to that. In fact, there has been quite a bit of discussion on how they got permission to locate holes on the water's edge. The usual limit of 100m was somehow not applied, and some people are wondering why. The 18th hole is in fact 372 mtrs in length.

The course was designed by the RTJ II group, and my understanding is that Bruce Charlton was the principal architect. The course was laid out at the edge of Lake Mälären and is quite flat. The fairways are wide and the greens are fast and have significant movement within them. Sergio Garcia commented today that he would soften the slopes if he owned the course. I hope the owner doesn't take his opinion too seriously, as I think the green are quite interesting. They just need to get the pace right.

The modest clubhouse.

Donal nice shots.

The green contours can clearly be seen.

How does it play?

I look forward to seeing some shots without the competitors.  With all the tents and the white sand it doesn't look that natural, but without all the people?
Let's make GCA grate again!

Tony,

I haven't played it, but with so much water on the later holes, it's got a reputation for gobbling up golf balls. I believe the greens are maintained to a very high speed, and putting is not easy.

Yes, there's a lot of clutter. Although it's called the Stadium course, it's not very spectator friendly in my opinion, hence the poor photos.

Looking back to the tee (black).

A view back down the fairway towards the tee.

Hole 14, 415 mtrs, Par 4, Index 17

Unusual tee markers.

Hole 15, 503 mtrs, Par 5, Index 1

As the green on this par five sits on a small peninsula, it was not possible to get a good photo from behind the ropes.

Hole 17, 126 mtrs, Par 3, Index 11

The view of the green from the conventional members tee.

During the tournament, the players play from a different tee which is situated to the left in this photo. It provides spectators in the stands at the 18th green with a better view of the hole. Players must get a cart ride from the 16th green to the 17th tee as the distance is about 200 m.

A view of the green with the members tees in the background. Those of you that watched this year's tournament will have noticed that the edges of the island have now been built up with a stone wall.
