Semi-OT: Club websites and Facebook pages
« on: May 24, 2012, 08:44:15 PM »
Friends,

I'm working with my club to improve our website and Facebook pages and we're looking for some best practices.

What sites do you like?

In terms of competition, we are a private club that is pretty much always looking for members and banquet/wedding business. So we need to have a decent amount of information available to the general public. We can't have a site where there's nothing other than directions available to the general public.

Looking for websites that have good navigation, make sense from a structural standpoint, might have a nice course tour, etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff:

Here in the Madison area, Blackhawk CC has a very good website, complete with a decent course tour and photos of the head chef! Pretty easy to navigate, pretty clean design, without the "members" "guest" option you find on so many private club websites:

Maple Bluff CC is also decent, and actually provides a decent amount of information for "guests" including a good course tour, although it's not as intuitively easy to navigate as Blackhawk's.

Cherokee CC, where Stricker hangs out, has a pretty good website similar to Blackhawk, with archived newsletters going back 6 years!

There are a handful of threads about this topic.  While a few years old, this one has some good insight and examples:

Jeff,

I like Northland CC's. A fair amount of information and overall welcoming, but still distinctly a private club feel. Plus it just looks nice.

i've always thought Boulder Ridge had one of the best.   Great course tour plus banquet info.
