St. Louis C. C.

Has anyone heard anything about St. Louis C.C. possibly getting the 2014 Curtis Cup?

Also, has Steve Spray retired from St. Louis C.C.

He is a pro that should have been listed in the thread a few weeks ago about great club pros.  Born in Iowa, won a PGA Tour event in San Francisco either in the very late 1960s or early 1970s, and has been the head pro at St. Louis C.C. for probably over 30 years.  Always a very good player, even played in some Senior Tour events, but an even greater club pro.

Being in St. Louis and having played over there I have met the man a couple times he was a very nice guy. I think the new Pro is from The Alotian club not sure his name.

Good News for the Curtis cup of true that would be good for the course and the city.. I need to get back to SLCC this summer It is a fin track.

Brian,
The new head pro is Grant Masson from the Alotian Club.
Steve Spray is a great guy and ran the nicest pro shop in the district.
SLCC is a gem and along with STL will be a great venue.  Just got back to STL yesterday from a golf trip in Philly and wow did it get hot!

I was lucky enough to play a couple rounds with Steve Spray at SLCC.  In his mid 60s he was still a great ball striker.  He won the 1969 San Francisco Open at Harding Park.

At SLCC, the toughest stretch is 2-4.  #2 is a double plateau green on a uphill par 3 over 200 yards.  #3 is a fantastic par 3 and I would imagine #4 was CBMs answer to the road hole on a longish par with a deep front right bunker.  I was witness to Spray going 2, 2, 3, most impressive.

Ran has a good review including discussion about Brian Silvas restoration work.
