Good to have you in GCA, John. You taught me at USGA rules school in Denver about ten years ago. You were a better professor than I was a student, as I didn't get the required 92 on the exam.....among the hardest tests I've ever taken, for sure !

John M. is Ran's younger brother, and was the co-founder of this web site when it started up.

I made the post because I was surprised to see him listed as a new member, even though I knew he hadn't been posting for a while.  It's sort of like seeing Leon Trotsky listed as a new member of the Communist Party.

I hope John is in better health than Leon.

John:

Welcome back.  Hope your return sparks a trend to bring many past, valuable members of the site back.  Maybe your brother and Ben will post more frequently.

What other past members would be nice if they returned?  Tom P, Wayne M, Tommy N ?  Others???

Was his ouster at all similar to Trotsky's?

Why isn't Ran and John's brother Bill a member, or is he?

Thanks, everyone.  It's nice to be back.  I trust there is no more in-fighting in the Discussion Group. :)

While I know the GCA group is zealous, I would not have dreamed up the analogy to the Communist Party.  Let's hope the quest for good golf course architecture is more successful in the long run!

John M provided me with the best way to assess one course over another.  We had a great discussion between two great courses one day back at Erin Hills....I was going on about the merits of this or that...and John says, "Well, Mike, which one would you rather play? That's the better one."  It was brilliant - thanks John...I use it with others now.
