Thirteen guys on one course!  What's the over-under on the number of times someone plays through someone else?

That's a certainty. We established a rule of "continuous play approach where no one really stops, akin to passing a car on an interstate," to quote Mr. Sander.

I'm less worried about being passed and more concerned about being lapped.

What the practicalities of multiple hikers at the one course, shotgun start?
Is it assumed that two balls would be too slow?

Brett,

I am pretty sure the guys playing at a course with a handful of golfers are starting on different tees.
My friend and I will be playing as a twosome on an empty course. We have played several training rounds and usually play in about two hours, so that shouldn't be an issue. I think I would most likely go crazy if I had to play by myself all day, but I do get bored easily!

At Flossmoor, we're using a shotgun start.  Holes 1, 10 and 17 start pretty close to the clubhouse, and we'll shuttle a few guys out to further points to spread out the field.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of singles play to start the day, but folks may start playing in twosomes as the day goes along and we get closer to our goals.

When overtaking another golfer, we've decided to keep the play moving by letting guys hit up, as long as they know the guy in front of them knows they're hitting.

I suppose there will be benefits for having a group of hikers at the one track, helpers could man stations with drinks, energy food, moral support, etc, foot massages, rub downs, etc :)

Brett, to me having the support of four other golfers is critical to both hitting the target (108 holes) and enjoying the experience along the way...I am not expecting any rub downs from my fellow hikers, but knowing that we are all in it together and pulling for each others success - will make the journey that much more fun and hopefully we each reach our goal and raise a lot of money for a great cause.

Two weeks from today we will hopefully be over the 100 hole mark and still smiling...

Wishing all you boys in the Northern Hemisphere an easy walk with the sun on your backs and to cruise past the 100 holes. I am beginning plans to do the HHH in December downunder.

I have been searching and cannot find the original thread of Jim's 155 holes last year, has it been removed?

I think we are planning a variety of tees over the six rounds...certainly one from the tips at some point (early) in the day and then certainly a couple from the traditional member's tees, and I would also expect several rounds to be a combination of all the tees to give us some unique looks at the course.  One aspect of Kingsley I like is the variety of tees and the unique choices/looks each box presents the golfer...

Chris speaks for himself and maybe some others but not for me. I will be playing very few gold tees throughout the day, forget about a full round!  I'll be playing a few rounds from the blues, at least one from the whites, and some mix and match.

We haven't gotten as specific in our discussions yet to talk about shotgun starts. With only five I am inclined to think we can all tee off at one as singles. None of us are having Colton-like dreams of playing 180 so I don't think the shotgun will make much of a difference with only 5 golfers.

I kind of like the idea of a ceremonial first tee with all five of us teeing off together and then spacing out as play proceeds on the first hole.

Yes, I didn't mean to speak for anyone else.  I do think I will try one round from the golds...once I get that round done everything else the rest of the day will seem a little easier - sort of a weird psychological trick - in every round after that as I am walking from the green to the next tee I can quietly say to myself "at least I am not playing from back there anymore..."

Also...  i assume there will be no practice swings.

I have a pledge from Jud that kicks in an extra $20 for every round I shoot below 78.  What he doesn't know is that I'll be playing the forward tees all day long.  ;)

Here is the set I am planning on starting with...3 wood, 5 hybrid, 6 iron, 8 iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and putter.  I am planning on leaving my full set at the clubhouse and may make some changes throughout the course of the day - most likely substituting my 3 wood for driver and most likely switching out my putters at some point.

I plan on my regular pre-shot routine for my opening tee shots for each round and I would guess I would probably have a couple of practice swings here and there throughout the day - especially on some of the tougher shots (i.e. most penal if you miss like #2 and #9) at Kingsley and for delicate shots around the green  As for reading putts, etc. - I am not planning on reading any except for looking at the green and line as I walk up to the green.  One of my biggest goals will be to keep balls out of the native - that will be a huge time killer and there are some hills at Kingsley that you just don't want to walk up and down at all, let alone in the middle of a six round day.

I am not so worried about running out of time on the day (when I have played as a single at Kingsley before I usually get around in less than two hours with my full bag, pre-shot routine, reading putts, etc.) - my biggest concern is just the stamina to make it around 6+ times.

Well, two weeks from today we will be done and hopefully recovering...
