Thinking about this, I must say that heated seats in cars  and TV remote controls come to mind. Please, no mind numbing stuff about medical procedures etc.

I can listen to the remote control but for those of us in God's Country heated seats is a waste.

Bob,
Recently I was in a buddies car that had heated seats and built-in massager, perfect 'ride' after a round of golf.

Here's a usefulless one:

My friend tells me that Viagra works pretty good.  Of course my wife prefers heated seats.

I will say that the iPad has made the TV remote obsolete.  Even when we do watch TV it is On Demand or Netflix.  800 channels makes clicking around obtrusive to an enjoyable evening.

Three little letters: DVR

Watch what you want, when you want it, and save a lot of time in doing so. Seinfeld takes 20 minutes, any hour-long drama is more like 45 minutes, and if you are so disposed, you can watch the final round of golf tournament in less than two hours

"DVRs" are NOT the best invention of the last 40 years. TiVo is. DVRs are to TiVo as a picture of a golf course is to a golf course.

I'll have to go with the internet.

While some responses touch on it, you need the personal or laptop computer as a basis for almost everything else digital, so I say that is it.  Certainly some of the medical procedures are nothing short of miraculous.

In golf, is it the materials borrowed from the space program for shafts, heads, and the like?  I know many don't like that idea, but it was a game changer.
