I think that Belmont's original greens may have been the old velvet.

Tom- We rebuilt the greens at Vesper in the Fall of 2009 to USGA specifications with washed A-1 A-4 sod.

Belmont resurfaced their greens in I think 2007 and I believe they used the newer Greenwich Velvet.

  I remember reading about how Chris Morris had to drive down to NJ because you had an issue with the vendor for your turf. As in, the vendor was gone, no longer in service. Looks like you had it Velvet prior to the renovation

Yes regarding Belmont.  They were long known around New England for the quality of their Velvet greens.
