John:

It was mostly Bruce Hepner figuring out where to hide the maintenance roads.  Luckily, there are a lot of dunes to hide them behind ... I can't remember anywhere that we had to build a mound or something to hide a path.

While walking I believe that you only cross a road five times during the round.  Unless of course you are hitting it either way left or right from the tee? :o

This isn't a flyover and also not much of a short cut.  note:  No reason to watch the entire video, it doesn't get more interesting at the end.

Gotta give some love to Sand Hills.  I had never seen this before and Adam Clayman looks so much younger in coveralls.

Not sure if it's been posted here yet, but Google Maps now has updated Ballyneal images from late last year. We don't have to look at construction images any longer!

I am moving my family to Denver later this year and Ballyneal is on the top of my list of places to play. This course looks amazing!

Maybe you can grab an invite to the Phantom Major on the way to the 5th. Personally I would wrap the initiation fee into my mortgage and join the place. It is that good!!

Both of these sound like great ideas! In fact, I just got the final go ahead from the boss (my wife) to join the 5th Major. Who do I contact to get more info on this Phantom major?

That was great, thanks for posting.

Having visited Dick when they were building the course, it was awesome to see him just like I remembered. Have a great admiration of that man. A remarkable success story.

Nice video!  Would've been nice to see some higher G loading during the shot for a tighter turn circle, but camera steadiness is pretty solid.   ;D

That is the first time I saw that Roger Welsch Sunday Morning piece on SHGC.  It must date back to late 90s.  He used to be a regular contributor there on CBS Sunday show.  Welsch, a native of Dannebrog NE, did many pieces like that on life out there in Nebraska.  He even did one on the world famous Dannebrog golf club, where rounds are charged by whatever you see fit to put in the common collection can.  $2-3 is generally appropriate. And, he included the world famous town cafe, where they have spontaneous folk music every breakfast service.  Definitely a Doak scale 8 - do not miss if you are anywhere in the area.

I always found Welsch's reports from the heartland great fun and informative.  He does have his critics, however. Dan...  :-\ ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

A couple more from the sand hills.  Forgive the Nike commercial, this one must have been from a while ago.
