Mike,

The facility for uploading photos to the gca website doesn't work. You have to have the photos uploaded to a hosting site such as photobucket or flickr. Then you reference them in your post here.

Garland,
Thanks for the info.  I thought that is what I did from photobucket.  Oh well maybe another day...

If you already have them on photobucket, see your other thread for lots of help.

Mike - just seeing this now. Congratulations -- that is lovely topography and a lovely use of it, with a lot of very appealing simplicity (in the best sense), and if I'm understanding you, you now own it! That's great!  I hope (and I believe) it will do very well for years to come.

Damn that's a good looking golf course. Also, LaGrange is a fun little town. A couple of really good, slightly funky restaurants.

Congrats Mike. It must be nice to have your baby back home.

Now to fit them to the page width. Mike, you can push the quote button on this post to see how I did it.

Congratulations on your purchase.  I played there a few times back in the 90s actually.  Right on the highway, right?  Think I'll have to come down for a round this summer sometime.

I just started reading "Economy in Course Construction and Green-keeping" by Alister MacKenzie the other night.  There is a short introduction by Harry S. Colt and he ends with the following paragraph.

"No doubt many mistakes were made in our early attempts, and I never visit a course which I have designed without seeing where improvements could be made in the constructional work, and as long as this is so, I feel that we shall all continue to learn and to make progress, our instructor being nature himself."

So now as the owner, are you planning on making any adjustments to the course?  As in any profession, people learn a lot in 25 years of work.  So I'm wondering if you now want to go back and tweak it here and there.  If so, I'm sure we would all appreciate hearing about it.  Thanks so much.

By the way, Cateechee's greens did a number on me the other day.  I definitely learned the importance of keeping the ball below the hole there!  One of my favorite courses in all of Georgia.

I knew Mike wouldn't bump this up himself, and it was down on Page 3 already and I thought it should come back up to the top.

I've been watching the Masters and reading all the good threads too, but have nothing to add. Instead: another look at this 'other' lovely Georgia course is warranted.

For you I hope I am wrong.  In this golf economy I think the two most exciting days of owning a golf course are like owning a boat.  The day you buy it, and the day you sell it.

It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Lynn,
I would agree if you buy at the wrong price but a few are getting into the right price range ...hope all is well out there...

Can I interest you in a property in Michigan called High Pointe?

Mike...

Is the course open for play?

If so, are there any other GCA'ers who'd want to join me for a road trip to The Fields?
