CB was the most fun course I have played in a long time. Weather has been unbelievable; I'm peeling from too much sun at CB on friday. C-E C.C. Is a great members' course and club. Pumpkin ridge public tomorrow. A ton of pars but I'm still seeking my first birdie on the west coast!! I'll post pics upon my return.

Macan created quite an interesting routing and set of holes for C-EW didn't he? Interestingly, they play it with reversed nines from his routing, but when the LPGA used to play it they played the original routing.

I too love Chambers Bay and am hoping to play there again in 3 weeks. It is gorgeous, especially on a beautiful day! I played Pumpkin Ridge on Saturday and it is still quite wet. I was not getting much roll out at all and Emilie is correct the rough is tour level difficult right now. Avoid it at all costs :D They punched the greens a couple of weeks ago, so they were rolling slow, but all that being said, I love the course and it was still one of the most enjoyable rounds I have played in a long time! It seems to me that the back nine is the stronger nine, or at least I seem to prefer it.

I like the back nine better, as well. Every hole, I think "I can birdie this" I don't always feel that on the front 9.

Played back nine first, it's pretty much a pure Muirfield routing, with the first nine clockwise around the perimeter and the second nine the opposite direction inside.   It's difficult for a slicer to hit a tee ball OB.

Took me a while to understand your wording. What you are saying is that Macan created a "pure" Muirfield routing.

Macan routed CECC in the same manner that Muirfield is routed, what is known as a "Muirfield" routing.    Others with which I am familiar are Sonoma Golf Club and the original Chicago Golf Club.

I hope that is clear.
