Hey, all
I just thought I'd do a better job of introducing myself than I have previously, and ask a question that I've been wondering.
So, I am 25, living in Iowa, currently going to school on a golf scholarship. I am married, and am a life long golfer. I've never been skilled enough to make any sort of living from the game, but growing up, my grandfather and three uncles were club pros. My uncle Jim even caddied on the tour for a while. It was my grandpa Jim who instilled in me a deep sense of appreciation for excellent golf courses. I love golf, and admire those of you who have designed and have an even deeper understanding of the game than I. I hope to learn well from you all while I'm here.
I've heard some playful chat around the site that this is the "Platinum" age of course design, and there be no doubt that some excellent courses have been built in the past 20 years. Most of you are all much broader traveled than I, and it just left me wondering: which courses have you played, built in the this "Platinum" age, that have left the most impact on you? In your own opinions, which are the best examples of modern course design excellence?
