I have a friend travelling out there in a week and I'd like to give him a few recommendations.

I played Desert Willow a few years ago.  I thought Firecliff was pretty good while Mountain View was pretty bad.

Thanks for your help!

I liked Escena when I played there six years ago.  Cool layout in good condition (at least at that time) that is in a relatively ugly area.  The price was also very reasonable.  http://www.escenagolf.com/sites/courses/escena.asp?id=876&page=49219

Terra Lago was also good.  http://golfclub-terralago.com/golfdeals/

If I recall correctly, I played the Legends course at Tahquitz Creek (the older Billy Bell course) with my son and thought it was good value for the area.
Golf is a game. We play it. Somewhere along the way we took the fun out of it and charged a premium to be punished.- - Ron Sirak

Topp is right on with Escena and Terra Lago. Desert Dunes if you play in the morning is not bad, but a little bit of a drive.
Shadow Ridge - not sure on pricing - is decent.

Try Golf Now for great deals that get better the later you wait to book your tee times and they take singles also:

Also if you are playing at the last minute you can get great discounts with Standby Golf based in Palm Springs:

Most hotels have local golf booklets in the lobby that have coupons that offer great deals too.

I would recommend Desert Dunes and the Classic Club as the best bang for your buck without a coupon. 8)
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.
