The induction ceremony was Monday night and it was a great ceremony. Maxwell was inducted in the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame alongside five other Oklahoma legends. Ferguson Jenkins, Dewey Selmon, Pat Jones, Lynne Draper, and Jesse "Cab" Rennick were the other inductees. Maxwell's granddaughter, Dora Horn, gave a nice speech and accepted the honor graciously. There were a host of Oklahoma celebrities at the event including Barry Switzer, Billy Tubbs, Eddie Sutton, Mike Gundy, and Bob Stoops. It was a wonderful evening and the Jim Thorpe Association did a wonderful job with the event. It was also nice to get back to Oklahoma for the first time in a few years.
As a side note, I did get to meet several of Maxwell's relatives that I have never met previously and one of them relayed that the club at Dornick Hills has also cleared out the area in front of the Maxwell-Woods gravesite to provide views of the golf course, much like those that existed in the early years of the course.
