Astoria G&CC is my quirk of choice. The are two others about equal distance from Portland. Indian Creek is Hood River is 6116 yds with slope/rate of 71.3 129. Elkhorn Valley (head south to Salem, then head towards Bend and veer off near at Mehama is a family owned/designed course which threatened the top nine-hole course lists.

And for quirky par 3 courses Troutdale's Edgefield (McMenamin Brothers) course is exemplary if you tipple before, during and after

Solow...thanks for waking memories of Putterham from around 1979 or 1980 for me.

Bells are commonplace in hilly New England.

Find me a course (Blueberry Hill, Allegheny Hills, Coudersport) in SW New York or NW Pennsylvania, designed by a dude with a drill and a dream and you'll find quirk. Courses that move through apple orchards...that's quirk. We have some decent courses, but perhaps are more proud of our quirk. And, we have a country club in Dunkirk, NY, called Shorewood, that has exposure to neither shore nor wood.

Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake (Burbank?), California, has a 65 yard par 3 where 4 or 5 is as likely a score as 2! Love that hole!
