Imagine how bad...

a course designed by this site would be.....I see a treeless redan infested 6400yd hairy ass bunkered rock hard slow greened cluster....what features do you see that this site pushes a little too hard in the name of elitism, intelectualism, popularism or just plain stupidity....You know too much of a good thing never works.

:D

Start with the site..  can't be flat, unless you're 400 years old and laden with site history

Next with the environmental conditions.. windy in all directions

Next with the tees..  three sets only, pro, players, hackers

Ok...I'll start with the trees...I like a tree here and there...I like hitting a draw to the right of a tree..a fade to the left...a shot over a tree...a punch under...a bad shot through a tree a good shot deflected.....a course without trees is like a day without shade...gimmee some stupid trees.

Steve,

How would you place the hacker tees so they could explore all the options and strategies hackers love....give a hacker plenty of width and a line a charm...and they too will love the architectural nuances of our beautiful design.

Mike,

I thought we might put quasssi-motor in charge of the routing so we could have each tee next to the interstate...that way we could replace carts with tour buses and enjoy the view...oh damn thats not this site..thats the real world.

With width, width and more width...I can envision a hole 100yds long and 800yds wide...par is not relevant and options abound....so in a pin the tale on the donkey hole...spin around...blast a driver and discover new and better ways to approach the green....too much width is never a bad thing.

JakaB,

Hackers don't need no stinkin lines of charm, its a log-normal probability distribution type thing, imagine, fire, aim..

The 360 degree hole would be one of the signature shanker's hole.. a good place for some of your trees

Actually, the first hole would be a sweeping downhill affair ending in a simple green located within a conference room.  After holing out all players would be required to sit around the cup and come to agreement exactly what the architect intended in designing the hole.  Play could not continue until all agree.  This is a cheap course because only one hole would be required....

How about trap door tees?

That's right, any repeated breach of etiquette or failure to fix ballmarks and on the very next tee, upon striking the ball, the ground disappears and you slide down a shaft full of unniceties finally ending up next to your car in a sort of drunken like stuper with your cardigan wrapped around your ankles.

Shivas hit upon what came over me while eating my Ultimate Omlete....the elimination of tees as we know them with the creation of "Optionettes"...With 18 perfect greensites...endless width and no trees...a routing becomes moot with the creation of optionettes, which are....large flat areas appoximately 75 yds square where individuals just tee it up in an irrelevant par.. option induced frenzy.

JakaB:

I can't think of any features "this site" pushes a little too hard in the name of elitism, intellectualism, popularism or just plain stupidity.

Take the recent discussion of Pine Hill for example. We had a guy come on to tell us that a routing that repeatedly took one by cart to the top of the next hill for another view of the nearby city was a "great routing".

Tell me. Was that pushing too hard? Was it elitism? Intellectualism? Or just plain stupidity?

Or maybe the guy just liked skyline views. Anything wrong with that?

As for trees, don't worry. They aren't going away. You always be able to find enough golf courses with plenty of trees, at least here in the States you can.

You hit the nail on the head!

Don't forget the waterfalls, paved cart paths, beer cart girls, valet and club cleaners.

You'd have to send out a search party because you'll all be tripping over yourselves trying to find the holes as you're designing on the ground. I guess you could carry a GPS unit or hire the Utah hiker to help! ;D
