Houston friends, anybody interested in teeing it up at Cypresswood on Friday around noon?

I land at IAH at 10:15 and am planning on getting my bags, a rental car and heading right over there. I'd like to play the Tradition course (Keith Foster).

I'm interested in hearing your take on Foster's design. He is a great architect.  But that name!  They've officially run out of tree-related golf course names.

Jeff it is a better course than one might think. My daughters conference championship was there a few years ago. I enjoyed walking it.  It will not make the cut on here but for Houston it is a decent play.

It's a solid course, I like the par 5's. If you want I can meet you for dinner or drinks on Friday or play early on Saturday.

I agree on Keith Foster. I have played a bunch of his stuff and like almost all of it, despite the fact that some of the properties he has worked on aren't the most exciting.

I like The Harvester a lot. I like Gateway National, Shepherd's Crook, Texas Star and The Bandit. The only course that I was underwhelmed by was Buffalo Run out by the Denver airport.

Of Fosters courses that I've played I liked Bandit and Texas Star more than Cypresswood. Both courses have much more interesting terrain than Tradition though. I like the renovation work he has done at Colonial and Southern Hills.

I love what could be at Blaketree, but it was DOA the last time I was there.  Greens had eroded to the point that they were filled with potholes that remind me of the sidestreets of New Orleans and about as much grass as you'd likely see on the moon.  They wish that place would have burned up last summer.

I've heard that Blaketree is actually in worse condition than usual. To combat this we have a 7:20 tee time at Cypress Lakes (http://cypresslakesgc.com/). As of right now it is myself and Jeff Shelman. David McBride son of Bill will come if he can get a babysitter. I told David to bring the 3 year old so we can teach him bad habits and talk bad about his grandpa.

We walked 18 holes while the two guys we were paired with rode. We played in about 3:40 and only waited on a few shots.

I did get out to Cypresswood on Friday. Landed at IAH at 10:20 and was on the tee at 11:38. Took me about five holes to figure out how to hit it straight. The golf course is pretty decent. Some nice holes wit a good mix of holes going both ways. The green complexes are pretty interesting without being over the top.
