4 and 6 hole courses

There was an article in Golfweek about the Ryder Cup coming to France. the French Golf Federation mentioned their desire to promote golf as more than an game for the rich. They mentioned there were now several 4 and 6 hole courses with mor e to come. I like the idea. Has anyone tried that here in the USA?

I've seen a few 6 holes courses in little towns out in West Texas. I played one in Sterling City, it's not much more than a field with a few holes but it's golf.

Does anyone find it ironic the French are promoting the less than 18 hole concept?

Not trying to start a discussion of culture but, as a whole, their work schedules tend to be far shorter than in the US and thus they have far more free time to enjoy things such as golf.
