Which Mission Hills do you mean?

I would assume that the first project was VERY successful, if it led the developer to put so much cash into the subsequent project on Hainan Island.

Economically successful aren't the words that pop into my mind when I think about Mission Hills
It would take a lot of real estate to pay for those clubhouses
Maybe Mission Hills changed the way the world views China - and the nations tourism revenues - but that would hardly be due to the architecture

I have no actual knowledge of the finances at Mission Hills, and I don't know that either of you guys have even been to China, so don't know why you would know more about it.  I've never been to the big place in Shenzen; I only spent a couple of hours at the new one in Hainan before my last flight home.

I thought it was a reasonable assumption that no one would build a billion-dollar second project [or be loaned the money to build one] unless his previous project had been successful.

I've never been to Mission Hills
I was asked to go and visited China to look at a project
The city wants to promote its trade and tourism
They have hopes for a nice golf course & inn & spa
The golf course wouldn't make money for some years - there are no golfers
But it would help their goals

I wouldn't call that an economically successful golf course
Maybe that is why he said "project"

Is the measure off finacially successful the golf course alone, or the development as whole?
