John,

Since you're a member of the club, I'd certainly start there.

We know the clubhouse never burned down so it's unlikely anything was lost in that way.    Perhaps the early club minutes still exist, or were perhaps sent to the local historical society or city library?

Some here may have you believe differently, but there is sometimes a limit in what you can find from old newspapers and online sources.   I think I may have exhausted those for you.

What's more, internal club records sometimes differ from newspaper accounts, and it's often best to deal with first-hand sources.

Finally, I'd suggest perhaps a search of Van Syckel's estate, where its very possible his personal papers and such may have been archived.

This stuff takes a little digging, but I'm betting you may enjoy the search.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

John,

Have you tried any of the methods I posted earlier?

A quick search of the newsaper directory of Chronicling America suggests a prominent paper in Trenton back then was the Trenton Times, also called the Trenton Evening Times.  And many places have it on microfilm, including the public library in Trenton.  If you haven't given this route a shot, I would consider doing so.

Here is a listing of many places that have the Trenton Times:
