swap Old White for Congressional, and Plainfield for Firestone or Innisbrook, and this list wouldn't be that different than a GCA list.....given the choices ::)

Jeff,

I guarantee #22 St. George's would be higher on a GCA list (provided enough of my fellow discussionists have seen it).

They're not really feeling the Plantation Course for some reason.

on Golf Channel this morning, Geoff Shackelford attributed a lot of the dislike for Kapalua -- which surprised him -- to the really hilly terrain and difficult walk.   Apparently the article has lots of anonymous quotes about each course, and that is part of what he discerned from the quotes.

Another thing Geoff mentioned, he found it interesting that many players expressed dismay about the changes to the old classic courses that are being made to support the modern game.

No kidding, that probably has more to do with the courses being made more difficult for them then it shows their love of classical architecture.

Geoff Ogilvy's take:

http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours-news/2012-01/gwar-geoff-ogilvy-final-say

Interestingly, Ogilvy has no Victories at any of the Top 10 Tour courses... He must be too busy appreciating the architecture to worry about his score.. ;)

In fact, the majority of his victories... Dove Mountain, Kapalua... are at courses in the bottom half of the list.

Liberty National was at the nadir of this list.  The list might not be all that compelling to some of the cognoscenti hereabouts, but the anonymous player commentary will be fun to read.

The pros didn't hold back on Liberty:

"Too crammed in. Have nothing good to say about it," said one, while another said of the landfill-turned-course, "They should have left it as a dump." ... "Stupid & the views are way better than the course." ... A "stunning" location that "is the only thing that keeps it from being a 0." When told the tour was returning in 2013, one player said, "I can't believe we're going back there."

Winged Foot is a fine golf course, but was it included in these Tour rankings?

Also aware Ogilvy finished 4th last year at Augusta and won the Australian Open at the Lakes-which is apparently the third best course in Australia here on GCA...
