3rd Annual GCA Chicagoland Dinner - February 22nd Updated
« on: January 09, 2012, 02:54:49 PM »
To all,

Jack Crisham and I would like to invite you to the 3rd annual GCA dinner in Chicago on Feb. 22 at 7 pm at the Erie Cafe. Jack is working on a speaker for the evening. Please let us know if you can attend. We will have appetizers, dinner off of the menu and the Erie Cafe is wine friendly, so bring a bottle along if you'd like.

While it hasn't been a long cold winter here yet ( and I hope it doesn't get that way for me mentioning this fact), we will all probably be looking to get together and talk golf by then.

Reply to the post of send me a PM if you can make it!

Greg and Jack

Wish I could as the dinners have been a lot of fun in the past, but it looks like I'll miss the event by a few days. Have fun.

Didn't the great Blizzard of '11 hit the very night of this dinner last year? :o

I hope to be in -- will confirm in a bit after checking schedule. Will bring Wisconsin cheese and beer if so.

Looks like it... From last year's thread (http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,46945.50.html):

We may need to reschedule.  The life-ending storm is coming!!

Yeah...talk about bad timing! It's going to be nasty out there on Wednesday... :)

-------

Guys,

The potential weather in Chicago has forced us to postpone the dinner. We will try to get it rescheduled and will post an update. Please let your guests know.

Greg and Jack

-------

Just saw lightning with a big crack of thunder from within the snow....I think that's a first!

Pat:

I've seen/heard that a few times -- quite cool! Really means the snow's gonna come down in buckets, or truckloads, as the case may be.

Didn't a Chicago mayor lose an election over snow-plowing failures during a big storm? Wasn't that the start of Byrne's mayoralship?

The weatherman was pretty much right on the money...70mph gusts and 20.2 inches at O'hare....

-------

Some local snow pics...the first one is the view looking out my front door this morning.

Howard,

Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel was all of 200 yards from my condo when this happened:

Would love to attend, but alas, live a million miles away - that snow is just unbelievable. I can't believe you live with this kind of weather in th Winter!

The only thing more ridiculous than Team Coverage of Weather is ... GCA-Team Coverage of year-old weather!

It snows in Chicago.  How that's news is, and always has been, beyond me....

I think I'm in, but I'm not sure.  As always, it's a game-time decision based on lots of factors, both legitimate and utterly stupid...

Dave - attempting to argue that last year's historic snow storm was just your typical Chicago winter is ludicrous.

That said, I completely agree that it is old news at this point!
