One trip from Oregon to both Royals County Down and Portrush, with a stopover on the way back in Nova Scotia for Cabot and Highland Links. May have to ditch the Dixie Cup to make this work. The Royals are the last top 20 couirses I have a reasonable chance to play. In Nova Scotia a chance to see some more Whitman and Thompson.

The Dormie Club and Pinehurst #2. Partially because I really want to go play courses that look great, a nd mostly because the C and C fan club called and said I am in jeopardy of losing my buttboy card if I don't expand my portfolio this year!

Jeepers, you lot made me realize I don't have any firm plans to play a new course this year.  However, if I did have plans to do so, the answer as to why I plan to play it wouldn't be any more complicated than because its there.

Where I broke 40 for the first time in a high school match. I haven't seen it in 25 years, but I recall it having a bit of quirk that I might now appreciate.

These places have really captured my attention. I love looking at the photos of these 2 courses.

First trip to Bandon planned for August.  Everything beyond that will be bonus.  Always thinking opportunistically though.  Rarely visit somewhere that doesn't have a new/great place to play.

Because I'm not getting any younger.

And because both places seem to have a golf ethos similar to my own.

Also hope to get my handicap low enough to play in the Minnesota Senior at Northland. I think I'm 0.2 over at the moment.

Because I really, really want to play Northland at competition speed.

Highlands Links, Nova Scotia, Canada - Often called the best golf course in Canada.  HL has been on my radar for many years, but I've never made the trip.  With Ian Andrew's bunker work nearing completion and Cabot Links opening in the area, there is no excuse not to visit.

I feel like the last guy to the party, but I'm going to Bandon Dunes in September with my wife, who is almost as geeked about the trip as I am. I've wanted to go there since the first course opened, but our son started working for Nike two months ago, so we immediately began planning a trip that would incorporate a visit to Portland and an extended visit to Bandon. September is a good time to go because our home club is shut down for aeration, and the weather at Bandon in September appears to be about as good as you could hope for. We're preparing for four days of rain anyway, but on courses like that, who cares?

I am going to Costa Rica.  Never played anything there.  My wife and are going to Maui.  I have been there before but would like to play King Kamehameha. Finally, I go to England in the fall and want to get to Deal.

With a 3yo Im keeping the goals modest:  I want to get to World Woods -- mainly because it's a crime that I've lived in Florida 4 years now and haven't played it yet.

Also the Doak/C&C if they open any holes in 2012.

Boston Golf Club because I'm likely to be visiting the East Coast in May and a member has told me I'd be mad not to.

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

There are a few that I'm really excited for 2012.  One that intrigues me and I'm excited to see for the first time is Cedar Rapids Country Club.  I believe it is the only Donald Ross design in Iowa.  It looks to be some very interesting topography.

I'm looking forward to Dismal River (5th Major) and Chechessee Creek (Dixie Cup) and Timberline (Pate's redo in Calera, Alabama) for the 15th Annual Other Senior Tour.  Plans scrapped for the OST to head to Indianapolis but I might do a solo hit and run to play Trophy Club, Brickyard Crossing and The Fort as well as Liddy's Sultan Run. 

I had to cancel on Yale last year and it remains my top hope for 2012.
