Nicklaus Made $28M in 2011, Really?
« on: January 05, 2012, 02:02:45 PM »
I was looking at GD and they said that Jack make just under $29M last year and that much of that was from his design business. Was there that much work to generate that much income?

Much may not equal more than 50% - which still seems like a lot, unless they routed a ton of courses last year

I'm guessing...
His design business also would include consultation to all his existing courses - design and agronomic

Didn't they sell the business, or 1/2 the business for a big sum?
Thinking of Bob, Rihc, Bill, George, Neil, Dr. Childs, & Tiger.

Does his company handle course building anymore? I recall that his course building unit Paragon (?) bankrupted his public company (Golden Bear) in the late 90s.

Yes, Howard Milstein bought somewhere between 40-50% of the design and equipment business for about $150 million back in 2007.

The equipment business has, of course, also gone poorly.  Nicklaus Golf shut down its US operations recently.

What does Mr. Nicklaus command for a private outing?  A lot, I'm sure.

They add up and aren't known outside the lucky few.
