Can we make it part of GCA.com etiquette...
« on: December 24, 2011, 12:55:44 AM »
...to caption every photo with the name of the course, location, and hole number?

It always frustrates me to see a neat looking hole or course with no means of identification other than posting on the thread and hoping somebody see it.

 :)

Agreed.  Some like to do it on here as sort of a badge of honour ie if you don't know where the hole is you must be a GCA dunce and dare you even ask where that hole was

I agree wholeheartedtly.

And please, no acronyms in the initial mention of a golf course in a thread. While we're at it, how about mentioning the architect and location when introducing a golf course into a thread? It's frustrating to read, "Ah, but the contour tie-ins were much better at STDGC." and have no idea whatsoever where Sexually Transmitted Disease Golf Club is or who did it.

After it's been established that we're talking about Pine Valley Golf Club (Crump, et al. New Jersey), PVGC is perfectly fine, but only for the rest of that thread.

I may be taking this idea a bit too far...but would love to see the same thing when people photos are posted as well.  I always like being able to put names with faces.

It would also be helpful if, when starting a thread about a golf course, the initial poster would mention (city & state, sometimes even country ;)) where the course was located!

I'm guessing that's a zero on the Doak scale...

how about making it part of the GCA etiquette to state what the thread is about in the subject line so you don't have to click on it to find out?

That would never work.

The only thing that winds me up is re copying photos, look at a post and you may see the same photo 5 times and the occasional use of colour!

Jim, or a lot of loose ones.

I'm just happy that THIS GUY hasn't discovered...

This Little Trick

Seriously, though, this is such common sense, such good and proper form, that it is a shame it took a thread to make it happen.

However, my pet peeve is Subject Lines that end with elipsis...do you really think that your topic is so bad that we would skip it if you completed the thought?
