A Few of the Best - 2011

A few of the best from 2011

Hardest Course: Caves Valley
Hardest Walk: Westchester Golf Club
Fastest Round: Lookout Mountain, 1 hour, 27 minutes
Best Food: Ahi Burrito - Annanadale Country Club - LA
Best #19th Hole: Dodger Stadium
Best Clubhouse: Winged Foot
Best Waterfall: Trump - LA #1
Worst man made Feature: Trump - LA #1
Most Underrated: Sleepy Hollow (by a landslide, should be top 25)
Biggest Pleasant Surprise: Bayonne
Biggest Disappointment: Lost Farm, Tasmania Australia (gulp, from a C&C fanboy!)
Best Hole: Tie: Barnbougle Dunes #7, Royal Melbourne #6
Best Course: Royal Melbourne (Composite OR West both qualify for the best in the world!)

And a gigantic thank you to the Aussie hosts on GCA that were the most hospitable folks I have ever met.  What a great spirit they are and how they approach the game.

Why was Barnbougle disappointing?  Were you expectations that high or the course that off the mark?  Just curious cause I was really looking forward to making the journey.

Chip mentioned Lost Farm as a disappointment not Barnbougle Dunes.  I've been over to Tasmania twice now, once to play Barnbougle and the second time to play Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm.  It is one of the great trips in golf and Barnbougle Dunes is one of the great courses.  To me Lost Farm only disappoints in comparison to Barnbougle Dunes but I still think it is a VG course.

To give some reference and add to what David said, Barnbougle Dunes is in the World Top 40, while Barnbougle Lost Farm is Top 80.

It's still a marvellous golf course. But I, like Chip, found it a bit of a disappointment.

Piping Rock 16. Nice hole, too long for Peters with his crooked 220 driver.

What a solid course.
You'd make a fine little helper. What's your name?

Not when I catch it flush (221) and gaskins pushes it into the shit.
