The best GCA Christmas card?
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:38:44 AM »
... Tom Doak.  No contest.

Card features a photo of Christ the Redeemer overlooking Rio, according to a tweet from GD's Ron Whitten (https://twitter.com/#!/RonWhittenGD/status/149130414756335616).

Humor for sure.

I'm thinking only a megalomaniac  would think Hubris.

I thought clever
All the evidence is on the inside

Maybe Ron didn't get one from Ian... which is certainly a best too in my opinion.

I wonder if I am the only person who throws away every business Christmas Card I get the second I make sure a check in not enclosed.  I hate getting them and don't send em.  Thank God I have people to open the damn things for me or I wouldn't even see the cover.

Doak blew this one, he could have really made a name for himself if he had photo shopped Cristo Redentor with a golf club and funny hat.

The funny thing is that while the cards were being printed, I was down in Brazil, and on my last day there my friend and I went up to the statue [which he had never seen].  There were low clouds and a bit of thunder, and you could see people's hair standing up ... and at one point when I was standing beside the statue you could actually hear electricity crackling off the hand of the statue above, which was really eerie.  We decided it was best to head back down the mountain at that point!  A half hour later, there were lightning bolts everywhere.

I was thinking the whole time it would be a supreme irony were I killed by lightning up there, just after making it our Christmas card.

Our odds of getting the job are still the same, and I'm realistic about them.  I just thought it was like sending a postcard of what we're working on ... and at the same time, it does have more of a Christmas angle than another picture of Streamsong.

Either that, or powerful evidence that Olympic golf doesn't have much of a future after all....
