Way OT - Charles & Ray Eames, American Masters
« on: December 21, 2011, 08:30:52 AM »
I would recommend that anyone interested in design and the creative process watch the American Masters TV biography/documentary on Charles & Ray Eames, running this week on PBS.

While the Eames Design Group is probably best known for their furniture design, they virtually pioneered the use of "multi-media" in communications, public relations, promotion, marketing, branding, etc.

I thought the show was fascinating. If you can't catch it on TV, you might be able to watch it here:

Maybe the fact there was so much other great American Design going on post-war explains the fact that golf course design was a relative wasteland from 1945-1965.

There is a show on at LACMA (California Design 1930-1965) that heavily features Ray and Charles Eames. It runs through June 2012.

Their movie Powers of Ten made for IBM is a classic.

If you ever play Riviera, make sure to stop by the Eames house in Pacific Palisades.
