I made the acquaintance of three members of this club over the weekend.  Does anyone here know the architect of this course?  Looking at the aerial, it appears the course was redone.  The date of founding is 1921.

I couldn't find any substantive information related to the golf course online.

The original architects were William Rathman and George Langlands.  There was a substantial redo in 1996.  As with many
Buffalo area courses the trees on the course were greatly damaged due to a bad snow storm in October.  Not much else is know about the course.

I played this course in a US Junior qualifier in 1987.

From what I remember this was a very nice course with a couple of excellent par 3s.

Would love to play it again as my memories of it are fond ones.

Doug:

Jim Nagle is right about the architects.  Neither of them have any history of other design work other than TVCC and it is suspected that they were members, or prominent local individuals with an interest and some money to start the course.  There are a few articles that discuss, very briefly though, that Ross visited with one of the original presidents of the club at the site, but nothing ever came of it.

The course has changed considerably over the years with the latest wave of 'improvements' coming from a Master Plan done by Cornish/Brian Silva in the early 90's and completed around 1996 as Jim says.  Believe it or not, Professional Golfer Art Wall did a master plan many years ago and he was the first to significantly alter the original design.

The course isn't much in the way of classic styling and if it was, though doubtful, it has been wiped clean from the architects mentioned.  Recently, last October, Mother Nature stepped in and gave the course a good slap across the face by virtue of a huge snow storm that wiped out 500 trees and severely damaged about 1500 more.  As an architect this isn't a bad thing, but the club is very concerned and is preparing to take long-term steps to manage it, hopefully with guidance from an architect.

Hey Jim Nagle, nice stats and you came up with them so fast too ;)....  BTW, how is the work at CCB coming along?

I'm not so sure I agree with Mr. Witter on this one, at least on the Cornish/Silva master plan. Via historic aerials dot com, the course looks pretty unchanged from 1958 to present day. Any noticeable alterations would have been made prior to that year.
